For sale is a wonderful Arts & Crafts designed vase made by The Rookwood Pottery Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. The vase is rather tall as it measures just shy of 11" at 10 13/16"tall and is 4" tall at the top lip outside measurements. The foot has a diameter of 3 3/8".
The vase displays a tall tapered and flared cylindrical shape that is slightly bulbous at the bottom and rises up to the top and flaring out. It has a wonderful incised arts & crafts design that resemble in shape many of the turn of the century Church stained glass windows. These windows rise up from a horizontal line that circle the vase just north of the half way mark. The top of the windows touch the border of the top rim. These windows are side by side and there are 6 of them. At the top in the middle between these windows is another incised pattern of 2 small triangles, a larger diamond shape and these are nestled inside of a large triangle that is actually the border of the 2 top windows.
The vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The piece is signed on the bottom with Rookwood's "Reverse RP and Sunburst Logo" along with the Roman numerals XX for the year of manufacture 1920. It also has the mold number "2422" just under the date. This pattern by Rookwood is not that commonly found and considered somewhat rare.
This is a wonderful arts and craft shape created by Rookwood. Those of you who collect arts and crafts design pottery will surely welcome this vase into their collection. It will look great on any Stickley, Arts & Crafts or Mission style furniture.
